Thinking like the ancients?!

Just a bunch of stars, or origin of the Holy Cross. Powerfull stuff! I find this all much more interesting than all the pain and agony associated with Easter.

If you look to the northwestern evening sky in early spring, you can see the crucifixtion immortalized in the stars. Look for the asterism the Northern Cross standing semi upright on or near the horizon, on which is a vertically elongated dark interstellar dust cloud which is called the Coal Sack. This only occurs over several weeks or so at this time of the year marking the apparent end to the monthly progression westward of the Cross. Jesus dragged his cross in a northwest direction to be crucified. The asterism them sinks on roughly the above angle into and beneath the northwestern horizon.

Rotating the constellation in any direction, the alternately named flying swan (or goose) shaped constellation Cygnus becomes apparent. Coincidentally and oddly enough, it appears that Jesus is in a 'Swan Dive' position.

On the Death Penalty/Easter

Especially to persons of faith and in particular, Christians. Now I'm not a Christian nor have any faith, including A-theism. But this is what I know. It seems in order to be fully human, you must have no desire to kill, with the exception of maybe a reflex to an immediate fatal or severely injurious threat. Now I would imagine that the Dalai Lama doesn't carry a weapon, nor the Pope, nor did Jesus. It's in their faith that they believe that if it's their time, it's their time, and that is the will of God. None of these people advocate for the D.P.

It seems the imperative is not to have a desire for revenge or to kill, but to 'Find it within yourself not to desire such'. Once a person who has committed what is perceived to be a capital offence is contained, the threat has been eliminated.

In the Bible, as you know, one of the 10 Commandments is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'. This is cut in stone and handed directly down from the hand of God. It's on paper in other words. All the other methods of dealing with such criminals in the Bible are merely what in a Court of Law is referred to as being 'Hearsay', being, is that those passages were the result of 'Divine Inspiration' in the minds of the authors. They just thought it up! An idea popped into their heads. Notions!

In a Court of Law, 'Hearsay' is inadmissable evidence, whereas at least a document, and in this case that document being the 10 Commandments, is!

The imperative is not to kill, but to forgive and seek that persons redemption.
Thou Shalt Not Kill!

The D.P. has no real deterrent effect, and the $ numbers involved in trying and housing the near 5000 passed executed, and the current 3200+ inmates on Death Row in the US are insignificant. We're talking 8000 persons since 1930 to current. There are currently several hundreds of 1000s of persons in jail right now in the US. 8000 X $50,000/yr = $400,000,000.00. That's 1/2 $billion. In an economy approaching that of being $4 Quadrillion ($4,000,000,000,000,000.00), half a billion a year is utterly insignificant. Major savings could be realized by reorganizing the Justice system.

And one reminder to the Christians. Jesus died on the Cross to pay for the past and future sins of all man-kind. That includes death row inmates who may not even be belivers. He paid so no one else would. It should not be within a Christian to seek capital punishment. It's the ultimate imperative to overcome that desire for revenge.

"An Eye For An Eye, and a Tooth For A Tooth" does not mean anything along the lines of some form of equal psychological or physical punishment inflicted. It means and was intended to mean, and in being in accordance with the purpose of Jesus' teachings, to mean that the perpetrator should come to see, as in the perspective of the victim's eye, and to feel the pain, as metaphorically represented with a tooth, that the victim feels. The Ultimate Rule Cut In Stone Is "Thou Shalt Not Kill". This is the overarching rule that cannot be broken by man! You cannot kill a man in a cage! Realistically speaking though, some situations arise and we are only human, maybe warring on the battlefield, or in the case of a police officers carrying out their duty in situations critical and all other options are not applicable, but the state or the individual should not kill as a form of justice.

All Humans are fully Homo Sapiens, but unfortunately not all Homo Sapiens are fully Human.

Chickadees are every bit as smart and friendly as, and hang out with Red Breasted Nuthatches. They'll both land on you simultaneously for a peanut!
I've trained them from the wild to search for and retrieve a peanut from in or behind either ear, or in either nostril. Watch the look on people's faces when they see a Nuthatch pull a peanut out of your nose! Especially the kiddies!

There was an incident some years ago on the ice flows in the Gulf of St. Lawrence between Paul Watson and members of The Sea Shepherd Society, and Newfoundland seal hunters in cahoots with Canadian Fisheries Officers where when Paul was overseeing the hunt, a sealer, against the law (and any shred of morality) skinned a baby seal alive before the eyes of Paul and the Fisheries Officers then threw the agonizing seal back on the ice. When Paul demanded that the Officers arrest the sealer, the reply from the Fisheries Officers was,...."We didn't see anything". Paul has more respect for so called 'Human' life than I do. If I would have witnessed that incident, I would have gone ballistic on both the sealers and the Officers involved. Someone would have wound up disarmed, disabled, or even possibly dead whether it have been me "AndoCommando", or the sealers and Fisheries Officers, or all of us. I will not stand for, nor let this type of thing occur. An Officer who is commissioned to uphold the laws who would abuse his authority in this manner is in my opinion not an Officer and has besmerched the very badge he wears and not worthy of my respect!

In Asia, Seal Penis is sought after as a delicacy and a substance purported to increase virility. If this is in fact true, then we need not virile replicating Seal Penis eating persons of any ethnicities or demographic on this planet. And that goes for Shark fins and Whale meat too! If a country cannot feed itself with what it can produce within its own borders, then that country is overpopulated and its population need be reduced. As Paul Watson say's ecologically speaking "Worms are more important than Humans as worms can thrive without Humans, whereas, Humans cannot survive without worms. Take worms out of the ecology and the food chain collapses. Take humans out of the equation, and life on Earth will recover and thrive".

These sealers, who have the intellect not more than that of a fence post, have blamed the decrease in Cod populations on the seals, when in fact it's the fault of Fishers who fished out and destroyed other species on which seals feed, then systematically fished out all the remaining Cod. No fault to the seals. This is what you get when you believe in myth and 'seance' as opposed to the findings of 'science'.

Thankfully, the US has imposed a ban on the import of Canadian seal products. I just hope there's none of this 'Cuban Cigar' type importing of seal products into the US.

"One of the sealers was quoted as saying that he felt absolutely helpless as he watched the boat sink with sealers onboard," said Captain Paul Watson. "I can't think of anything that defines helplessness and fear more than a seal pup on the ice that can't swim or escape as it is approached by some cigarette smoking ape with a club. This is a seal nursery and these men are sadistic baby killers and that might offend some people but it is the unvarnished truth - they are vicious killers who are now pleading for sympathy because some of their own died while engaged in a viciously brutal activity."
