On the steep cliffs high
above the thundering sea,
she stands in despair,
shivering in the cold night.
Her hair shimmers brightly,
a wet fleece of gold -
A beautiful angel,
made of shadow and starlight

Behind her rises the moon
in the star filled sky as
Cold, white mist curls
from between speechless lips
To form the image
of the one who will not return.
The day he rode off -
hair glistening black in the sun,
the promise of passion
glowing in amber eyes

Her aching heart fills with desire
and sweet memories of long ago.
Their last dance in the moonlight
they twirl, swirl and caress the night
uncaring, needing and loving each other

Clearly she remembers his funeral day
fallen in the battle, they had burned his body
Tears well up as she begins to sob and weep
Desperately she longs to touch his soul

She could hear a voice whisper in her mind
He speaks to her in her dreams, calls for her
A lost spirit wandering in mists of eternity
With eyes that burn deep into her soul
But then there is silence when she wakes ...

Instinctively she spreads her wings
to leap high into the sky - floating out
beyond the horizons of earthly bounds,
flying and gliding upon the ethers of love,
knowing that she will perish in bliss.

Her face looks strangely pale,
as she lies in the white foam of the sea
a looming mist upon the waves,
her lips like a proud red flower,
the ocean her pristine bed

For a love of souls - they will meet again,
Beyond the darkness
